Juan Ruiz de Miras es Licenciado en Informática por la Universidad de Granada en 1995 (premio extraordinario). Obtuvo el Doctorado en Informática por la Universidad de Granada en 2001. Actualmente es Profesor Titular del Departamento de Informática de la Universidad de Jaén. Sus líneas de investigación incluyen la geometría computacional, el modelado de sólidos de forma libre, la computación GPU y las aplicaciones de la informática gráfica en la biomedicina.
